New cycling film festival at the University of Ottawa

On August 30-31, 2024, Joerg Esleben, Associate Professor, on behalf of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures organises a Cycling film festival at the University of Ottawa. This event will be the festival’s first North American screening.

The International Cycling Film Festival (ICFF) shows short films of all genres on all aspects of bicycle culture, which are submitted from around the world. The programs has guest screenings from the program of the International Cycling Film Festival, which shows short films, selected by a jury, from around the world related to bicycle culture.

The festival aims to bring together bicycle enthusiasts of the National Capital Region and foster awareness of the social relevance and diversity of bicycle culture worldwide.

Two ICFF curators will travel from Germany to introduce and discuss the films locally at the University of Ottawa.

The ICFF gives out several prizes, including the prestigious Golden Crank. This guest screening of films that the ICFF has shown in its main program in recent years, including Golden Crank winners and Oscar nominations, will be introduced by an ICFF curator.

Program

About the festival

The ICFF is headquartered in Germany and usually tours in Europe.

All films will be screened in English or with English subtitles.

The event is free and open to the public.

Venue: Alumni Auditorium, Jock Turcot University Centre, 85 University Private, University of Ottawa (LRT station UOttawa)
