This is one of my favourite routes. You can start in Ottawa but you’ll immediately go to La Belle Province.
The 44 km tour leads you through lots of greenspace, with views of the Gatineau River and through a small part of Gatineau Park. Upon leaving the park, you’ll be cycling on some city pathways through more greenspace and eventually towards the Ottawa river again.
A little detour brings you to small rapids in the Ottawa River. Cycling back towards downtown, you will have wonderful vistas on the Ottawa sky line. This is probably the hilliest of all the tours but we still cycle it on our upright city bikes with 8 gears only so not to worry. The hilly parts are a small part of the route and in the first half of the route.
Don’t miss the Canadian Museum of History on the Ottawa River, it is very much worth a visit. Bring locks to lock your bikes outside the main entrance.
